Casablanca

After a tiring flight and a late check-in yesterday, we decided to have a relaxed morning, recharging our batteries and picking up a few essentials from the local supermarket. Exploring foreign supermarkets is always an interesting experience

In the early afternoon, we set out on our adventure to the Hassan II Mosque, aiming to immerse ourselves in the diverse offerings of Casablanca. As we approached the mosque, the initial entrance seemed to be closed, so we headed towards the main entrance. It appeared random and still closed, but a helpful security guard pointed towards a nearby building and mentioned tickets. This felt like progress, bringing us one step closer to our goal.

After queuing and purchasing our tickets, we finally entered the mosque. The sheer size of the building was awe-inspiring and truly spectacular. Initially unsure if we were allowed inside, we wandered around and engaged in conversations with various people until we stumbled upon a small open door. Stepping inside, we were greeted by an inspiring sight.

However, our adventure didn’t end there. Finding the exit turned into a challenging mission reminiscent of the Crystal Maze. We were directed towards a staircase, but once we climbed it, we couldn’t find anyone to guide us further. At times, we found ourselves in rooms where we probably shouldn’t have been. Nevertheless, through perseverance, we managed to discover an escape route.

With a tour already booked, it was time to meet the rest of the group for our first dinner together. The meal consisted of a delicious Tagine and couscous. Debbie was particularly delighted with the food selection.
